The most beautiful corpse of all time? (史上最美麗的屍體?)

On May 3,just in time for Mother's Day, archaeologists(考古學家) unveiled(除去面紗) a gorgeous(燦爛的;美麗的) 2,300-year-old mummy that was discovered(發現) near Cairo(開羅). The world's top expert(專家) on Egyptian mummies. Zahi Hawass, Declared(公開宣布) that it "may be the most beautiful mummy ever found in Egypt." He said the mummy "demonstrated(證明) the brilliance(光輝) of the ancient Egyptians by using stunning(驚人的;極好的) colors."

It is actually the painted(刷上油漆的)wooden coffin(棺材)that Hawass admires so. The Mummy inside will not be exposed(暴露)just yet. Instead, CT scanning technology will be used to draw a three-dimensional map of the corpse, which is doubtlessly(無疑的)far from beautiful.

It has been a great year for mummy hunters. Just weeks before the latest find, Austrailan archaeologists, digging(挖掘)in the same area, discovered a secret 2,500-year-old tomb(墓埤) that also contained a beautiful mummy. Hawass called that find "one of the best-preserved(保存)mummies ever," especially because its covering of turquoise(綠松石) blue beads(使成串珠) was intact(完整無缺).

The most famous mummy of all time is King Tutankhamun, a young Egyptian king whose small tomb(墓埤) was discovered in 1922, setting off an international wave(浪) of interest in all things Egyptian. Some of those who had first entered the tomb of King Tut died shortly afterward(後來), causing widespread(分佈) rumors(謠言) of a curse(詛咒). So far, none of the archaeologists invlolved(捲入;涉及) in the recent discoveries have died, but mummies are hot news once again.
