Many people don't realize that billiards can be traced(追蹤)all the way back to the 16th century! Although it's unknown whether its origin(起源;出處) is in Europe or Asia, billiards resembies(和什麼..相似) an old English game called pall-mall. This game was played on the ground with a four-inch wooden ball and a mallet(木槌;錘子). The Spaniards brought this game to America in 1565 and in 1735 the modern billiard cue first appeared-in France.

Billiards can be played in many different forms, such as 7 Ball, 8 Ball, 9 Ball and Snooker. It can also be played with one person or up to four people. In pool halls and pubs, 8 Ball is usually the game of choice. For this game, each player uses the cue (pool stick) to hit the white (cue) ball. The white ball then hits a colored ball as the player tries to sink that coloerd ball into one of the six pockets. The first person to clear all her balls off the table wins.
